Music Business Seminars
Del offers a variety of
other programs in addition to his concerts.
One major use of these seminars is to involve other segments of your
campus community. These programs can be presented for the general
public, or specifically for music students, theater majors, english
& creative writing classes, humanities programs, or any number
of interested academic areas.
You can schedule any of the
following seminars along with a
concert and create your own "Artist In Residence" Program.
The Music & Music
Business seminars are:
The Business of Music
Designed to explain how
the world of commercial music operates, it
covers nearly all areas of music and entertainment. It includes live
performance, recording and the record industry, publishing, radio, and
more. It will explain the role of such professionals as personal
managers, booking agents, entertainment attorneys, road managers, and
others.
Songwriting
This seminar covers both
the mechanics of songwriting and the creative
process involved. It includes structure, form, melody, subject matter,
and more. While this program will not teach you to write a "hit" song,
it will help those attending to understand how such songs come about.
There will be an opportunity to hear "songs in progress," discuss
songwriting techniques, and methods of stimulating creativity.
How To Do Anything
Whatever you dream of
achieving, there is a way to reach that goal.
This session will give you the tools to reach your goals. Success is a
matter of goal setting and developing a plan of action. Achieving your
goals is really pretty simple...whether they are basic or lofty,
material or spiritual. First you have to set a goal, then develop a
strategy to accomplish it. But, of course, you have to stay motivated.
This program is partially practical (goal setting and taking action),
partially motivational (get moving towards your goals), and partially
metaphysical (get and maintain a positive attitude). It is quickly
becoming the most popular seminar Del presents.
The Creative Life
This is a look at both
the day-to-day and the long-term, exploring the
ups and downs of a career in the arts. Esoteric and philosophical,
funny and poignant, it covers the trade-offs involved in living the
life that many dream of living. It is accurate and down-to-earth, and
will give those attending an opportunity to understand how to live an
artist's life.
How
to Make A CD
As compact disc
production increases, it has become easier for aspiring
artists to make their own CD. This workshop covers all parts of making
and releasing a CD. Includes recording and mastering, graphics,
manufacturing, and marketing. This is a very popular program,
originally developed by Del for presentation at a Nashville Songwriters
Association International (NSAI) event.
